Our projects
We currently have two main projects we’re focusing on:
Discrete choice experiment (DCE) on preferences of patients with type 2 diabetes in different countries:
The objective of the project is to assess the preferences of patients with type 2 diabetes by using a discrete choice experiment. The aim is to find out which treatment characteristics are particularly relevant for patient decisions. The characteristics to be collected will probably include attributes such as efficacy, route of administration, or side effects but are to be discussed with and advisory group. In addition, the study will be conducted in several countries and the results will be compared across countries in a joint publication.
Antihyperglycemic medication costs in different countries:
The objective of the project is to compare medication costs for different antihyperglycemic medicines across Europe (medication cost comparison) and to estimate the proportion of out-of-pocket medication costs for the treatment of diabetes (patients' burden) in each participating country. This will be done by collecting and adjusting for purchasing power parity (PPP) list prices for antihyperglycemic medicines used in Europe with regard to a defined index year. For each medicine of interest in the respective countries, real PPP-adjusted costs based on the defined daily doses (DDD) approach are estimated. Lastly per capita out-of-pocket costs of pharmacological treatment of diabetes with respect to the antihyperglycemic medicines or classes should be estimated on an annual basis.
